André is the Principal Flute of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. His first orchestral experiences at the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), Britten-Pears Orchestra and Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester led him soon to perform with such orchestras as the Sinfónica de Galicia, Filharmonía de Galicia, Sinfónica de Tenerife, Orquesta de Cadaqués, Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana, Orchestra Mozart, Nacional do Porto, Staatskapelle Dresden and Sinfónica de Asturias. He performs regularly as a Guest Principal Flute with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Philharmonia Zürich, BBC Scottish, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Spira Mirabilis, Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Sinfónica de Barcelona (OBC), Gran Teatro del Liceu, Malaysian Philharmonic and Orchestra Leonore.
He is not only an experienced orchestral musician, but also a passionate chamber musician. When not playing in the Orchestra you can find him performing with the wind quintet Azahar Ensemble, the Natalia Ensemble (a symphonic ensemble which he founded and where he is the artistic director and arranger) or in one of his duo projects with pianist Irene Alfageme, harpist Bleuenn Le Friec, or guitarist Pedro Mateo González.
His career as a soloist takes him around Europe next to orchestras like Sinfónica de Galicia, Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Dresden Staatskapelle, Scottish Chamber, Georgian Sinfonietta or Filharmonia Zabrzańska and such conductors as Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Zsolt Nagy, Alejandro Posada, Joseph Swensen, Vladimir Jurowski, Miguel Ángel Gómez-Martínez, Joana Carneiro, Guillermo García-Calvo, Andrew Manze, Maxim Emelyanychev or Peter Whelan.
André studied in his hometown Santiago de Compostela and Salamanca with Laurent Blaiteau and Pablo Sagredo. He then went on to study with János Bálint at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (Germany) and with Jacques Zoon at the Haute École de Musique de Gèneve (Switzerland).
He loves sharing his passion for music with his students. He was a flute and chamber music teacher at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón between 2013 and 2020 and at the moment he is a Flute Teacher at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at the Barenboim-Said Academy. He also gives numerous masterclasses and courses around Europe and coaches youth orchestras each season.
