Already at the age of 15, Thomas Lindhorst received a scholarship for the well-known clarinet class of the former North-West-German music academy in Detmold. After his studies under the lead of the professors Gerhard Albert, Jost Michaels and Hans Dietrich Klaus, which he concluded with the examination of concerts, he was the first solo clarinetist of the new philharmonic orchestra of Westphalia, one of the biggest country-orchestras in North Rhine-Westphalia. There, he gained diverse and intense musical experiences in the fields of opera and concerts. As a soloist, he performed almost every standard musical work for clarinets. Furthermore, he concerted as a chamber musician with well-known partners in various combinations. Moreover, he has been invited to various concert tours and master classes, inter alia, to China, USA, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Australia, Taiwan and Japan. In 2016, a much-respected CD with all sonnets of Max Reger for clarinets and pianos was released, in which Thomas Lindhorst was largely involved. On the occasion of the year of Beethoven, a new CD with the septet op.20 and the trio op. 38 was presented. Since 2007, Thomas Lindhorst is holding the position of a professor at the university of music in Detmold. Many of his students play in renowned orchestras and, hence, continue the tradition of the Detmoldian clarinets.
Thomas Lindhorst már 15 éves korában ösztöndíjat kapott az egykori Észak-Nyugat-Németországi Zeneakadémia jól ismert klarinétosztályára Detmoldban. Gerhard Albert, Jost Michaels és Hans Dietrich Klaus professzorok koncert szólista osztályában diplomázott. Ezután az ország egyik legnagyobb zenekarának , az Észak-Rajna –Vesztfália Filharmonikus Zenekar szóló klarinétosa lett. A zenekarban változatos és intenzív zenei élményeket szerzett az opera és a klasszikus zenei koncertek területén. Szólistaként szinte minden hagyományos klarinét művet előadott. Ezenkívül kamarazenei koncerteken játszott világhírű partnerekkel. A világ számos országában koncertezett és mester kurzust tartott. Járt Kínában, az USA-ban, Belgiumban, Olaszországban, Oroszországban, Finnországban, Észtországban, Ausztráliában, Tajvanon és Japánban. 2016-ban jelent meg nagysikerű CD-je Max Reger összes klarinétra írt szonettjeivel. Közreműködésével a Beethoven év alkalmából újabb CD jelent meg Beethoven Septet Op.20 és Trio Op.38 műveivel.Thomas Lindhorst 2007 óta A Detmoldi Zeneművészeti Főiskola professzora. Növendékei neves zenekarokban kaptak állást és öregbítik professzoruk és a detmoldi főiskola hírnevét.
